Plunge Right into Success!

In a small town, there lived a street cleaner named Jake who was paid by the city to be out bright and early to sweep up last night’s garbage before today’s garbage hit the streets.

Each morning at a quarter to six he would encounter the town’s richest citizen, a man who made his fortune in the peanut business. We’ll call him Mr. Planter.

As Mr. Planter made his way to the office, he always gave Jake a friendly greeting. One morning Jake asked him: “Mr. Planter, why does a millionaire like you get up to go to work at 6 o’clock in the morning?”

“That’s how I got to be a millionaire”, answered Mr. Planter.

The millionaire businessman was at work long after Jake the street cleaner had put away his broom and basket too. Hard work does not guarantee success, but it is the price of success, and not everybody is willing to pay the price.

Getting started is one of the hardest things about hard work. We just don’t want to get up in the morning, and after we get up we just don’t want to get down to work. How much time is wasted around an average office because the staff has to come in, pour the coffee, read the paper and check social media before getting down to hard work.

But getting started doesn’t have to be so difficult. You know what it’s like to go swimming in cool body of water. If you wade in gradually, every part of your body takes turns shivering. You prolong the agony. If you plunge right in, the shock is over in a moment and you start enjoying the refreshing coolness. Plunge into the beginning of your work and see how comfortably the rest of it flows.

Are you willing to do the hard work, but not sure exactly what to do?
